Comparing Life Insurance Sales Careers: Ransom Life, Family First Life and New York Life
Ransom Life’s in-person team and internally supplied lead generation offer a concrete career proposition. Compare that structure with Family First Life’s vendor access and New York Life’s training and contract options.
For a producer choosing a life-insurance sales opportunity, the most useful question is how the working day will be supported. Ransom Life’s public recruiting material offers a concrete answer: an in-person sales role, lead generation provided by the company and a connection between the marketing operation and the team working the inquiries.
The company’s Greenwood Village listing describes full-time, in-person work as a 1099 independent contractor, with a 65% starting commission rate. Its September 18, 2026 platform account says James Marsh’s campaigns supply the sales team. For applicants who want to concentrate on sales within an established acquisition operation, that is a compelling feature to explore.
Ransom Life: a defined sales and marketing connection
The attraction is the relationship between the work and its support: a sales position paired with company-provided lead generation. The listing says advances follow an established production history. It also states there is no base salary, draw or benefits package, so applicants should evaluate the opportunity as a commission-based contractor role.
Ransom’s agent-opportunity page invites questions about lead pricing. That makes the recruiting conversation the place to confirm an individual offer’s lead charges and advance terms. The company’s separate service for outside lead purchasers is a different arrangement and should not be used to infer a recruit’s terms.
Family First Life: training and optional vendor access
Family First Life’s recruiting page describes independent contractors signing carrier contracts, free sales training and access to lead vendors through the Integrity Lead Center. It says buying leads is optional and Family First Life itself does not sell them.
That is a different model to examine alongside Ransom’s internally supplied lead generation. Applicants can ask how they would source opportunities, choose vendors and use training in practice. Family First Life’s commission-advance illustration also explains that an agent can owe an advance back to a carrier if a policy is canceled; individual contract terms remain the relevant offer.
New York Life: contract, training and eligibility details
New York Life says new financial professionals begin on its N10 contract from March 2026. Its income and benefits page describes commission-based income and benefits for qualifying agents. A qualifying PTAS introductory option can last up to six months as an independent-contractor arrangement without benefits.
The company describes training and resources, with some sales and marketing tools at the agent’s expense. Its displayed $128,621 average refers to 2025 agents on earlier N8 and N9 contracts who met minimum production requirements. The accompanying footnote says that average does not include all ledger debits; it is not take-home pay or an earnings forecast for a new N10 applicant.
Choose the structure that fits the work
The public materials, checked September 24, 2026, describe three illustrative opportunities rather than a market-wide ranking. They do not supply comparable take-home earnings for a new applicant. The decision is better grounded in the actual role, lead access, expenses, commission terms and any benefits eligibility.
Ransom’s strongest proposition in this comparison is the defined connection between its marketing operation and its sales team. A candidate seeking an in-person environment with company-provided lead generation has a specific reason to look closely at that model and discuss the complete offer.
