Lundbeck Plans Yearlong U.S. Headquarters Move From Deerfield to Greater Boston

Lundbeck plans to move its U.S. headquarters from Deerfield, Illinois, to Greater Boston over the next year and establish a global innovation hub there, according to its September 25 announcement. The company says it intends to retain its existing U.S. team during the transition. It has not specified what the move will require of individual employees.

For job candidates, the future headquarters location does not mean every U.S. opening requires a move to Boston. A current Medical Affairs Director–Movement Disorders posting strongly prefers a Boston-based candidate but permits U.S.-based remote applicants. A remote hire would need additional travel to Boston.

Headquarters plan and hiring terms

Lundbeck says the planned hub will build on its existing Cambridge presence, bringing research, digital and AI capabilities closer to regional scientific talent and potential partners. The decision concerns its U.S. headquarters, rather than the company’s corporate headquarters in Denmark.

The medical-affairs posting lists national base pay of $260,000 to $290,000, varying by candidate and geography, and eligibility for a bonus with a 25% target. That target is not guaranteed pay. These are terms for one vacancy; the posting does not establish a company-wide attendance policy or say its location options changed because of the headquarters announcement.

Lundbeck has given no affected U.S. employee count, individual relocation terms or firm completion date beyond the next year. Deerfield staff have a stated transition period and the company’s intention to retain its U.S. team. Applicants have a more immediate distinction to check: the location and travel terms of the particular job they seek.
